LOL, reminds me of when I first moved into my house, I was putting a new door handle on the back door.. Chissling the hole out... bang bang bang bang... SCREAM... !!!!
Wife comes down to find a blood fountain spewing from my foot wher eI had dropped the chisel and punctured the artery. Minutes later, nee naw nee naw nee naw as an ambulance arrives.
A nice introduction to my new neighbours.
Moral: don't work with sharp tools only wearing sandals :-)

What you probably do not realise as well is that using "local" to scope your variables also has other issues that exist prior to CF9.
If you store a query in the scope, e.g.

Then you can have problems working with this query while it is in this scope. It took me quite some time to work out why my queries were going screwy, but as a result I had to change all my scoping to LOCALS instead of LOCAL to resolve the problem.
I do not recall what the exact problem was as it was a couple of years ago, so wa son CF6 or 7.

It's surprising there was hardly any pain at all. The tetanus shot wound up hurting more than skewering my finger bone!

I'll just caution everyone to make sure they are completely aware of which end the staple comes out of when they attempt to use a staple gun and leave it at that :)

Actually not damage much at all. The doc said if I had been a few millimeters to either side of the finger, I'd have hit blood vessels and nerves, but, as it was I just punctured the tendon and the bone. He said to work it back and forth for the next week to regain full range of motion and I'd be fine.

Michael,

From what I heard from Rupesh Kumar, CFThread runs as a function call, so it might be getting confused between the two local scopes (the one inside the CFThread and the one inside the CFFunction). I'll have to do some testing on that.
