Me, All About Me

I’m a country-boy, isolationist, hermit-at-heart who loves to play with computers, write cool code and is generally addicted to being connected to the Internet–in short, I’m what you’d call a techno-hermit.  My ideal living situation would be a house in the middle of 50 acres of woodland with a nice fat T-1 circuit connecting me to the outside world. I love seeing what I can do with code. I love dipping my toe into new technological waters–whether it be the Adobe technology stack that I use to earn a living (ColdFusion, Flex, LiveCycle) or whether it be figuring out how to best share our iTunes library across all our Macbooks, Macbook Pros, Mac Minis, iPods, iPhones and AppleTV units.  I ESPECIALLY like figuring out how to make all this cool technology automate something that I don’t like doing so I can go do something that I do enjoy.

I’m married with 3 kids (twin girls and a boy). Even though I’d love to be a hermit, I am a traveling ColdFusion / Flex consultant which puts me on the road to client sites nearly every week.  My family and I regularly fire up iChat or Skype and video conference to stay in touch while I’m gone. When I was growing up, we had no idea what video conferencing was (hey, the C-64 barely had a disk drive much less a camera), so the technological leap between my generation and my kids generation is incredible. I have vowed never to let my kids be more tech savvy than me–I’m not sure I’m keeping that vow very well.

Anyway, if you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m a technology/gadget nut.
